PR needs our help. They are getting huge resistance from the locals. Some folks are trying to get the County council to refuse Pacific Raceways a permit to build their new drag strip.

Please take a moment and email the Council members below with a short letter asking them to support the building of a new track. Please keep it respectful. Feel free to forward this to others that may also be willing to write the council for support.

I have already replied to all of them, and got back 2 responses. Here is a copy of one of them and the details for the upcoming meeting and agenda.

Dear Mr. Eason
Thank you for your input regarding proposals for further development at Pacific Raceways.
As you may know, King County Councilmember Pete von Reichbauer, who represents Council District 7 in which Pacific Raceways is located, has prepared a "striking amendment" to Proposed Ordinance 2011-0227, legislation regarding a developer's agreement process to be used to govern any future development at the raceway--this proposal is for a demonstration project to determine the effectiveness of that process for multi-year, multi-phased commercial development. The amendment is available for public review on the King County Council website under "Hot Topics"; click on "Pacific Raceways" to view the 93-page document. Please feel free to contact Councilmember von Reichbauer with any questions or input on his proposed striking amendment; he can be reached at pete.vonreichbauer@kingcounty.gov or 206.296.1007.
Proposed Ordinance 2011-0227 has been scheduled for consideration by the Transportation, Economy and Environment (TREE) Committee, which I chair, on August 23rd. I understand that Councilmember von Reichbauer intends to offer his striking amendment for committee consideration at that time. At the committee meeting, there will be an opportunity for members of the public to provide comment (two minutes per speaker). Following public comment, I intend to ask committee members for their determination on this measure, which may include taking action on the legislation, moving it forward for consideration by the full King County Council.
You are invited to attend the August 23rd meeting in person, or to tune in from your home or office. The details are as follows:
Tuesday, August 23, 9:30 am
King County Council Chambers
King County Courthouse, 10th Floor
516 3rd Avenue
Seattle, WA 98104
You can view the meeting live on KCTV channel 22 or online at this link; click "Watch us live."
Thanks again for contacting me regarding this issue; your input is timely and valuable.
Sincerely,
Larry Phillips, Councilmember
Metropolitan King County Council, District Four
King County Courthouse
516 Third Avenue, Room 1200
Seattle, WA 98104-3272
