Opening Weekend at Bremerton this year turned out to be spectacular weather wise, too bad the tracks computers and sound system couldn't have turned out as well.
The Car Club event started out on a bright, sunny and cold morning. The gates were lined up all the way down the road. There was a very good turnout for the first race.
The new GMC team's debut was very impressive to say the least, they showed up with 22 cars. It was nice to see quite a few New Camaro's come out and share the field
with it's pony car competitors, the Mustang and Challenger.
The issues with the timing system made for a very slow start. The early morning rounds trickled along, but on the bright side it gave a lot of the competitors a chance
to catch up with each other and their off season improvements. The first round of eliminations didn't take place until close to 2pm, but once they got going the track did a good job of limiting the test and tune runs to speed up our eliminations.
All three teams that competed were evenly progressing through the rounds. In round 4 remained 3 Mopars, 2 Fords, and 2 GM's. Unfortunately for the MDT all three cars
went out in that round which left a Ford vs. GM semi final. In the right Lane it was Dave Carman and John Lemma. The left lane held Don Berry and Clint Anderson. Both GM's
were defeated which left an all Ford final. Dave Carman had a .059 reaction time, and ran a 10.37 on a 10.33 dial to John Lemma's .086 reaction time and breaking out with
a 10.859 on a 10.88 dial.
